Michelson Found Animals Foundation (MFA) recently held a Pet Wellness Day in Boyle Heights. The event, which was hosted alongside Assemblymember Miguel Santiago and Senator Maria Elena Durazo, offered free wellness services and low- and no-cost care to 300 pets.

Pet Wellness Days, part of Michelson Found Animal Foundation’s Better Neighbor Project, serve local communities where people often struggle to provide shelter, food, and healthcare for their pets. The program’s goal reflects MFA’s wider mission of keeping people and pets together.

At the Boyle Heights event, 300 pets received free wellness checks and vaccinations; 30 pets were spayed or neutered; 106 microchips were registered; 128 pet ID tags were distributed to support lost pet prevention; and a lot of free pet food was provided to four-legged attendees. Like all Pet Wellness Days, no animal was turned away.

“We have partnered [with MFA] on many occasions to bring services to pets in our community,” Senator Durazo said. “There’s a lot of need because we love our pets, but many times, we can’t afford to give them the services they need.”

We would like to thank MFA staff, volunteers, partners, Assemblymember Santiago, Senator Durazo, and the Boyle Heights community for making the day a huge success.

Check the calendar on the MFA website for more information about the Michelson Found Animals Foundation and upcoming Pet Wellness Days.
