2020 Michelson 20MM Foundation Smart Justice Spark Grantees

The Justice Spark awardees will address faculty turnover in prison-based higher education programs, make University of California bachelor’s degrees available to incarcerated individuals, and further Fair Chance Hiring.

 

2020 Smart Justice

 

In October 2020, the Michelson 20MM Foundation announced their latest cohort of Smart Justice Spark Grantees:

  1. The Foundation for California Community Colleges and the Academic Senate for the State of California Community Colleges

  2. The Regents of the University of California / The University of California, Irvine

  3. Root and Rebound

  4. The Forestry and Fire Recruitment Program

  5. Anti-Recidivism Coalition

Through the Michelson Spark Grant program, the awardees will address faculty turnover in prison-based higher education programs, make University of California bachelor’s degrees available to incarcerated individuals, support formerly incarcerated persons as they transition from fire camps to becoming full-time members of the fire service, and further Fair Chance Hiring.

The five grantees were selected out of 137 letters of inquiry and 40 proposals.
