Introducing Michelson 20MM’s Connecting California Web Series
Digital divides are opportunity gaps created by inequitable access to high-speed internet, computers and other devices, and digital learning resources.
In summer 2020, Michelson 20MM Foundation launched Connecting California to help bridge these divides. Held virtually, the inaugural series assembled local and national leaders to discuss and devise solutions for enhancing digital equity.
The inaugural event, on August 6, addressed “The Digital Divide: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow,” and featured insights from business leaders, digital equity practitioners, internet service providers, philanthropic investors, and policymakers.
On September 17, “Stronger Together: The Role of Cross-Sector Partnerships in Digital Equity,” featured an array of speakers such as California State Senator (33rd District) Lena A. Gonzalez examining how public-private partnerships can be effective in closing digital gaps.
The November 19 event, “Philanthropy Post-COVID: Where Do We Go From Here?” spotlighted investments made by philanthropic leaders to improve digital equity during the pandemic—and best practices to continue those efforts in the years to come.
The conversations are available on the Michelson 20MM Foundation YouTube page. Visit the Michelson 20MM website to learn more.
